Description
The 3DEXCITE Support Team sometimes receives the question if a higher clock speed or more CPU cores are beneficial for renderings. After discussion with our experts at 3DEXCITE, we have now a common answer to those requests.
Solution
A high number of CPU cores is beneficial for Stellar rendering but clock speed is also important. At some point, tasks can’t be more effectively split up into multiple threads and at this point you can only speed up the process with higher clock speeds. There are also certain algorythms / tasks that can’t be multithreaded at all and will only benefit from the clock speed.
So unfortunately there is no general rule or CPU recommendation as it highly depends on the usecase.
So for specific requests about performance expectations, we would need a detailled use case description to understand your targets and give you an approximately estimation what would work best.
